On June 23rd, the NBA Draft will take place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Three prospects are being considered for the first overall pick: Jabari Smith Jr., Chet Holmgren, and Paolo Banchero.
Jabari Smith Jr. is a forward out of Auburn and is the top prospect coming into the draft. During his season at Auburn, he led the Tigers to a second seed in the NCAA tournament, averaging nearly 17 points per game.
Chet Holmgren is a center out of Gonzaga and has the highest ceiling in the draft class. He assisted the Bulldogs in retaining the one seed in the NCAA tournament, averaging more than 14 points per game.
Paolo Banchero is a forward out of Duke and is the most NBA-ready player in the draft class. Banchero guided the Blue Devils to the Final Four in the NCAA tournament, averaging more than 17 points per game,
Julien Prasso, a WJPS senior, said, “I think the first pick of the draft will most likely be between Jabari Smith Jr. and Paolo Banchero.”
Nick Zuvich, a WJPS junior, said, “I think that Chet Holmgren will be the first overall pick in the draft.”
The Orlando Magic will have the first overall pick in the draft.
