After 25 years of teaching, Ms. Bernhardt is retiring at the end of this school year. She was one of the first teachers at WJPS when it opened.
She currently teaches English to sixth and seventh graders and has primarily taught middle school students throughout her career.
She said, “I felt it was time for me to move on.” She will miss the interaction between the students and teachers here at WJPS.
Her advice to current and past students is to “keep an open mind to new ideas and be respectful of all people.”
“I am very honored to have been a teacher at WJPS for so many years and have had the opportunity to see the school grow into what it is today,” she said.
WJPS junior George Vlantis said, “I had her in sixth grade and she was a strict, but fair teacher.”
Ms. Bernhardt’s last day with students is June 27th.
