Backpacks are being brought to class by some WJPS high schoolers after sixth period lunch. This is due to many students wanting to be able to leave directly from their class without stopping at their locker when the school day ends.
At WJPS, school policy is against having backpacks in class. You are supposed to leave it in your locker and only carry around the books and materials needed for your classes.
The WJPS dean, Ms. McCloskey said, “Students should not be bringing backpacks to classes after lunch. We have a strict no backpack policy here and students need to follow the rules.”
WJPS sophomore Nathan Gibson stated, “It’s convenient. No need to stop at the crowded lockers. I get to leave as soon as the day ends.”
Recently, the WJPS deaning team has been enforcing the no backpack rule. Now, backpacks seen in class will be taken and confiscated until the end of the school day.
