With progress reports out, parent-teacher conferences, held in March over Zoom, allow students to really focus on getting their grades up and trying their best.
Parent-teacher conferences can seem annoying and stressful to some, but parents will find out about their child’s grades eventually. Parent-teacher conferences allow them to discuss issues with teachers one-on-one.
WJPS freshman Frensi Reyes said, “Yes, I think it is effective because it let’s us know what we could to bring our grades up in order to pass.”
WJPS art teacher Ms. Meneses stated, “I do think parent-teacher conferences are effective because I look forward to speaking with parents and answering their questions and letting them know how their kids are doing in class.”
Katerina Porter, a WJPS junior commented, “I don’t feel that they’re effective because let’s just say you’re a bad student and they tell your parents, your parents can lecture you and maybe even ground you, but you can still go back to school like the next day and act the exact same way because your parents aren’t even there to see what you’re doing.”
Daniel Goicochea, a WJPS sophomore said, “Yes, they are effective because if I’m not doing good in a class it’ll help me know what I have to do.”
Parent-teacher conferences let parents feel involved in their children’s education and communicate with teachers directly about their grades and what’s going on in their classes.
