WJPS advanced placement exam payments ended on December 1st.
Students who take AP classes must take these exams.
The issue is that these exams are quite expensive, as they can cost more than $96 each.
If a student takes three AP classes and each exam costs $96, this means that they would have to pay $288 for these exams.
The price gives students pressure to perform well on the tests. If they fail, the money they paid would go to waste.
“AP exams may seem ‘expensive’ at about $100 each, but if students qualify for the exam, they can save a tremendous amount of money in college tuition. Credits are expensive. Even if students do not score a minimum of three on the exam, the exam fee is minor in the scheme of things,” said WJPS AP teacher Ms. Marks.
“Most colleges are charging like $400 a credit at minimum. So, if you think about it, for less than a hundred bucks, you could wind up saving thousands. My kid took a bunch of AP classes. He’s probably going to go into college with like 20 credits. He’s saving at least 10 grand. In my opinion, it’s worth it,” agreed WJPS AP teacher Mr. Tesler.
