In celebration of Thanksgiving, WJPS held a live fundraising telecom event for the No Kid Hungry charity organization. This charity is aimed towards ending child hunger in America.
Students and staff were asked to submit their signature dish for the live stream, showing what they used to make the dish and a step-by-step process on how they cooked it.
The final result was an hour-long stream consisting of various dishes and baked goods.
During the premiere, viewers were encouraged to donate to the No Kid Hungry organization and were even provided with a link to the charity’s website where they could contribute.
WJPS senior Madison Oliphant said, “I think it’s a really good cause. It helps those in need while also teaching people how to make new dishes for the holidays. It’s wholesome.”
WJPS English teacher Ms Kontos said, “I remind my children and my students that we need to appreciate and be grateful for what we have, and not worry about what we want or cannot have. Watching these creative dishes being cooked and baked made me eager to get in my kitchen and try some of the delicious recipes myself. However, giving back to No Kid Hungry is what fed my soul. This is what the essence of being grateful means.”
