World Journalism Preparatory School is known for its uniform policy. With the absence of students because of the COVID-19 pandemic, during the first few weeks of students returning to the school building, some WJPS students were not following the policy.
In response, WJPS staff members are now heavily enforcing the uniform policy on the students. At the start of October, students were told by the school’s administration they must wear a uniform or there would be consequences.
“I really don’t mind it because the clothes that I usually put on for the uniforms are kind of comfortable, I have no problem wearing it.” stated Diego Hernandez, a junior at WJPS.
To avoid consequences, you must follow the policy by wearing a shirt or sweater that visibly shows the WJPS logo and you must not wear any jeans. If you don’t have a school uniform, you can go to the main office and receive one for the time being.
Failure to do so will result in lunch detention.
“I think that 11th and 12th graders shouldn’t wear the uniforms because we are much more mature and I see no reason in wearing it,” Ameen Afroz, a junior in WJPS, stated against the policy.
Students are required to wear uniforms because there are two other schools in the building, which allows the staff to not mix up the other students with those in WJPS.
