The New York Mets and New York Yankees 2021 seasons are officially done and their focus is now on the offseason. Both teams will have a lot of decisions to make.
The Mets struggled this year after having first place for 103 days. Their team was taken over by injuries. Four time All Star and two-time Cy Young pitcher Jacob Degrom was out since the All- Star break with an elbow injury.
The Yankees who also struggled went from a 13 game winning streak to losing 9 out of 13 games.
At the trade deadline the Mets traded for Javier Baez and the Yankees traded for Anthony Rizzo and Joey Gallo.
Mr. Strassberg, a WJPS teacher said about the Mets, “It was another let down season, coaching and decision making was not good. They also had a lot of injuries.”
Giovanni Duran, a WJPS junior said about the Yankees, “They had a mediocre season and their offense struggled at times.”
Both teams have not been in the playoffs at the same time since 2015 and played each other in the World Series in 2000.
