The LA Lakers in 2018-2019 were a huge disaster this year, from start to finish. Their disastrous year first began when they signed Lebron James after many speculations of him leaving Cleveland for a second time. The Lakers built a young core of players, including Josh Hart, Kyle Kuzma, and Lonzo Ball. The Lakers tried to build this core to help James make the playoffs.
However, this didn’t work out since the Lakers played disgracefully, especially when it came to losing to awful teams such as the Knicks and Cavaliers.
During the season, there were many rumors surrounding the team. There were also many reports of Lebron James wanting the Lakers’ coach, Luke Walton, fired, along with the possible Anthony Davis trade that never happened.
The trade involved the Lakers trading off Kuzma, Hart, Ball and Brandon Ingram. This was along with two to four first round draft picks for Davis, but the Pelicans refused to accept the offers.
The Lakers have fired Luke Walton after only three years in Laker Land. They went for former coach, Ty Lue, but they only offered him a three year contract worth $18 million, which he declined because he instead wanted a five year deal.
Magic Johnson also resigned as President of Basketball Operations. This is a disaster for the City of Angels, mainly because the Lakers were a failure with Lebron James and they failed to gain the second star that they needed to win a title.
The Lakers have now hired Frank Vogel to solve these problems and are searching for a President of Basketball Operations. The Lakers are currently in a make or break situation with James, and need to win now under his services.
