Actress Lori Loughlin and designer Mossimo Giannulli have been accused of bribing the University of Southern California approximately $500,000 to accept their social media influencer daughter, Olivia Jade.
Both Olivia Jade and her sister, Isabella Rose, were accepted into USC as crew recruits, although neither of them play the sport. The sisters’ parents are among many others facing similar allegations to aid their children with college acceptance.
Among other celebrities such as actress Felicity Huffman, Loughlin and Mossimo were charged with bribing elite schools such as Yale, USC, Georgetown, and Stanford. Both parents were arrested and released on a one million dollar bond.
Approximately 50 individuals are being criminally charged in the midst of the scam.
When asked on her opinion regarding the scandal, World Journalism Preparatory School Junior, Michie Liaw, stated, “The fact that the parents would pay an elite school to accept their kid is pathetic because it shows that they don’t even believe their kid is good enough to get into the college. Imagine their kid in class; how are they gonna survive when they can’t even have a 90 or higher average GPA in high school? Your kid got into Harvard, but at what cost?”
