NBA’s best team in the Western Conference, the Golden State Warriors took on the surging Chicago Bulls.
Both teams have dangerous backcourts. The main matchup pitted Warriors’ Point Guard Stephen Curry and Shooting Guard Klay Thompson against Bulls’ Point Guard Derrick Rose and Shooting Guard Jimmy Butler.
Golden State entered the game with a 11-game winning streak. Their 112-102 victory tied their franchise record with an unprecedented 12 victories. A franchise is a professional basketball team. In a franchise, there is an owner, president, manager, and contracted coaches and players.
“You’re talking about a franchise that was historically known for losing. A new ownership group came in, and it completely changes the entire organization. It’s a great feeling. We feel like we have a lot left in the tank,” Small Forward Draymond Green said.
There were a number of injuries in the game; Power Forward David Lee is still out with a hamstring problem and the Bulls rookie Small Forward Doug McDermott was out of action with a knee injury.
Green led Golden State to victory, erupting with a career- high of 31 points. Curry also contributed, notching 19 points, six rebounds and seven dimes.
For the Bulls, Power Forward Pau Gasol had a monster game grabbing 20 boards and scoring 22 points. However, Chicago had trouble protecting the ball as they turned it over a whopping total of 23 times.
“I find that people pay too much attention to the popularity and reaction that Pau’s brother Marc is getting. In my opinion, Pau Gasol is very underrated. People forget about the successes he had with the Grizzlies (Marc’s current team) and the Lakers,” sophomore Jordan Kose said.
Minnesota will host the Golden State Warriors on Monday (12/8/14), and the Bulls will host a visiting the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday (12/10/14).
