Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds and Fortnite have always been compared due to them being in the same gameplay genre.
PUBG has more of a realistic stance on the battle royale scene with cosmetics being limited to feel/look more realistic while Fortnite has a more cartoony style with characters from movies, such as the Reaper Skin akin to John Wick from the John Wick series, and nonfiction animals such as a swamp monster to a mascot for a pizza place in the game.
The main contrast between PUBG and Fortnite is that Fortnite has a high skill ceiling due to the in-game building. For example if you’re getting peppered by someone from a far distance, in Fortnite you can build yourself cover, while in PUBG you have to find cover already in-game instead of building.
Fortnite also has cross-play between all platforms while PUBG can only have seperate servers for seperate consoles.
“I feel like Fortnite has an edge over PUBG due to the building,” says WJPS junior Steven Palaguachi. “I also prefer Fortnite because of the many customization options is offers compared to PUBG.”
