Brooklyn-Queens Day, also known as Anniversary Day, is coming up. This means that there will be no school for students on Thursday, June 9th.
Brooklyn-Queens Day is usually celebrated on the first Thursday of June although in some years, it was celebrated on the second Thursday.
Teachers do not have a day off because it is Chancellor’s Day for them. Chancellor’s Day is a staff development day in which teachers work on school standards and testings.
“Having a day off will let me catch up on my school work,” junior Adriana Loh said.
In the past, Brooklyn-Queens Day was only for students in Brooklyn and Queens but the holiday has extended to all five boroughs since 2006.
