One of the most famous classic rock songs, ‘Stairway to Heaven’ written by Led Zeppelin, is dealing with a copyright trial. The lead singer, Robert Plant, and the guitarist Jimmy Page, will both face the trial.
Randy Wolfe, one of the members of the rock group, Spirit, had a trustee named, Michael Skidmore, who brought the lawsuit. The band Spirit, had released a song three years earlier before Stairway to Heaven, called “Taurus”.
Skidmore claims that while he was on tour with Page in 1968 and 1969, he stole the song and never gave them credit.
“I think a lot of songs have the same sound and I honestly think that it’s just a petty problem that the two bands are having,” junior Elizabeth Browne said.
Plant and Page have said that the chord progression can’t be protected by copyright at this point. The case still continues.
