Do-Something Club presents the Women’s Herstory month town hall, a chance to show-off and appreciate the females in our school.
“It’s been very important for the Do Something club to express our gratitude for the women involved in our school and the world. We just like to acknowledge them and what they do,” club president Caitlyn Reid said.
Almost 29 years ago, in 1987, March was designated as Women’s History Month. The idea arose in schools in the late 70’s as it began to catch on. Petitions everywhere came to officially mark March as a National Women’s History Month.
“Women need more recognition in society because I don’t feel like they get enough,” senior Christian Olivo said.
Some of the performances included showcases from some of the talented lady students and the Step team. Student government and ambassadors also set up a segment, where students acted as women in history who shaped different aspects of what is going on today.
“They were talented and it was a way to show that the girls in our school have a lot of talent,” sophomore Kiante Singleton said.
