Ben Affleck will direct and star in his own Batman movie; Warner Bros chairman and CEO Kevin Tsujihara has officially confirmed.
Affleck is currently starring in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Even though his role in the movie has been praised, the movie itself has received a lot of criticism.
There had been reports that Affleck, a recent Oscar-winner for his work as a filmmaker on the movie Argo, would eventually take charge of Batman. Last month, the actor and director’s agent, Patrick Whitesell, told the Hollywood Reporter that his client had already written the script for his own film.
“When I first heard that Ben Affleck would be playing Batman [in Dawn of Justice], I was critical on how well he could portray this superhero, since in the past, in my opinion his last superhero role [Matt Murdock in “Daredevil”] was pretty bad. After seeing Dawn of Justice, I immediately took back any doubts I had about his acting. I’m really looking forward to his solo movie,” Queens College graduate Amir Toussi said.
Affleck is also due to return as the dark knight of Gotham in two Justice League movies, in which he will team up with Henry Cavill’s Superman and Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to defend the Earth.
