NYC youth ages 14 to 24 can apply for the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP). The deadline to apply is April 15.
SYEP starts on July 5 and ends on August 13. Youth who apply will be entered into a lottery.
Students who get picked are offered a variety of jobs such as clerical, hospital, camp, cultural and custodial aides in government, and nonprofit agencies.
This program provides workshops for students such as preparing them for jobs and exploring careers.
“This program is beneficial for people who apply and get accepted because they’re getting work experience that will help them in college later on,” junior Kamalpreet Kaur said.
Working papers need to be complete if one is under the age of 18, which a student can get from their school.
