The legendary pop queen continued the show with her new hit single Give Me All Your Luvin’ featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. But a controversy upstaged the performance when M.I.A. lifted her middle finger towards the camera to families watching across the nation. According to CNN Entertainment, NBC did not have time to react and blur out the gesture since it was broad-casted live.
“Madonna did really good, but she was so stiff. I thought she could have done much better,” said 7th grader, Janae Kea. “…and what M.I.A. did is ridiculous, I don’t understand why someone would do that with children watching.”
She closed the show with her 80’s single Like A Prayer with Cee Lo Green joining her as well as hundreds of people singing behind them as a chorus.
“I found the halftime show really interesting. I liked when LMFAO came out, they actually turned the show into a party instead of just having Madonnas pop music. I also loved the ending with Cee Lo Green. It was really entertaining,” said junior, Natalie Silva.
According to The New York Post, the 46th Superbowl was viewed by 111.3 million people nationwide, making it the most watched television program in American history.
