Brendon Muniz is a student who works hard to achieve his goals. His dream job shows just how much he cares about others and finding ways to help them.
What is your dream job?
My dream is to be a teacher who can educate students who have a hearing disability. I want to encourage students who have any disadvantages to work their hardest and to achieve what other students can, or achieve even better. I believe we all deserve an opportunity to be successful, and as a teacher I want to help the future generation to think outside the box and improve our society. Let’s move forward and not hold back on the possibility. I am also interested in broadcast journalism, so I may freelance at that career path.
How do you plan on fulfilling your dream job?
Everyday I find ways to achieve my goal. I participate in different organizations that involve interacting with kids. I also do a lot of public speaking to get rid of the fear of speaking in front of others.
What are your goals?
I want to make sure that every student has the same education and opportunity to learn. It’s unfair that disabled people can’t have the same opportunity as regular people. I also want to encourage them to strive.
How do you plan on achieving your goals?
I am planning to take sign language classes. I only know a few hand gestures, but I want to be fluent in the language before I attend college.
What inspires you?
What inspires me is when people do things out of the ordinary. When you sacrifice your own time or life to help others.
Do you have anyone in your life who inspired you to become what you want to be (career-wise)?
Every mentor I’ve had has inspired me in some kind of way. For example, my first grade teacher taught me that every student should have the same education and shouldn’t be judged differently, instead be loved and treated equally. My high school teacher, Mr. Gembara, allowed me to see that being a teacher doesn’t mean you have to be a boring mentor but a fun advisor that can actually help you when in need.
What are your plans for college?
I sent in a college application to one out of state and they’ll get back to me in February. The other colleges I sent my applications to will get back to me around February to March. I want to get into a good college that has majors of education and communication.
What do you like to do outside of school?
I like to swim, write fictional stories, jog or run, edit videos and films.
With people like Brendon, who want to find ways to benefit others, everyone can be treated equally, whether they’re disabled or not. They’ll also be able to learn the same way as others.
