Electronic band Crystal Castles has recently revealed their new singer; Edith Frances.
Crystal Castles was formed in Toronto, Canada in 2003. The founder was singer/songwriter Ethan Kath. Alice Glass then joined the band as the lead singer, but departed from the band last October.
They are known for the chaotic live shows they play and their homemade productions that are melodic and lo-fi. The band has been signed to multiple record labels including Last Gang Records, Lovepump United Records, Fiction Records, and Lies.
They have had three studio albums, entitled Crystal Castles, (||), and (|||), released in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Some notable singles the band has are “Untrust Us,” “Crimewave,” “Vanished,” “Empathy”, and “Baptism.”
In 2015, Kath put out two singles, “Decide” and “Frail,” which had listeners under the impression that it was just Kath singing with a modified voice, but now it’s known that the vocals are done by Frances. Even though she has been featured in those two singles, it seems that she has no internet presence.
“I’m so surprised that they would even replace Crystal Castles with a new singer. I’m going to miss Alice Glass’ contributions to Crystal Castles but, at the same time, I’m very excited that they’re going to start playing shows and putting out songs again.” junior Nicole Kuliyev said.
Crystal Castles played their first shows since Glass’ departure, with the new singer Frances in November at two festivals in South Africa. Crystal Castles has also announced in a Facebook post promising “a new song soon.”
