The movie depicts adventures the characters encounter just as the new year approaches. A majority of the characters are involved in some type of romance, but either way, one thing they all have in common is that they all have a set goal to reach before the year ends.
“It sounds like a very entertaining movie because they embark on adventures before the clock strikes 12,” said senior, Monica Sharma.
Although many critics have given the movie somewhat poor ratings, it does a good job of ending the year on a positive, optimistic note while looking forward to a fresh start in the new year ahead. Each of the characters have different perspectives in regards New Years Eve, but they all receive what they wanted, although seeming corny and very predictable.
According to IMDB.com, the movie was directed by Gary Marshall, who also directed a similar movie in 2011 called “Valentine’s Day”. The movie includes a reasonably large cast, featuring many famous celebrities such as Zac Efron, Alyssa Milano, Halle Berry, and Robert De Niro. Despite there being a variety of celebrities, from musicians to comedians, they did their roles justice.
“I thought the movie was cute, but a little corny. There were many situations going on throughout the movie that kept me interested and entertained. I was also pleasantly surprised to see a lot of my favorite celebrities as main characters,” said senior from Bayside High School, Lisa Basian.
Also according to IMDB.com, the movie was released December 9, 2011, making over 13 million dollars in it’s opening weekend, and is 118 minutes long.
