The 2014 World Cup is a place for any team to show what its got. It’s also a time for the underdogs to prove themselves. The Soccer phenomenon will take place, two years from now in Brazil.
The Brazilian national team may win. This may bring another win to the table for the Brazilian fans. Brazil is a five time World Cup champion as they have won the World Cup in 1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002 according to ESPN.com.
Brazil has also been the host once before in 1950.
In 2014, the World Cup will be interesting to many fans. There are numerous icons which will most likely not be participating such as Ronaldinho who is 31 years old, Kaka who is 29 years old, Lucio who is 33 years old, Maicon who is 30 years old, and Julio Cesar Soares Espindola who is 32 years old. Though these players are aging, their attributes continue to rise as each break records left and right.
“They will make the team faster and athletic,” said seventh grader Norman Carmona.
Brazil’s highest ranking in FIFA was when they were first. Though they have been ranked first more than once, having been in first for 18 years, though they were first for periods of time throughout those years.
A few teams that are considered threats to Brazil which are ranked in the top 15 in the standing as of March 12th include, Spain, Netherlands, Germany, Uruguay, England, Portugal, Argentina, Italy, Croatia, Denmark, Russia, Greece, Chile, and Ivory Coast.
In the 2010 World Cup, the top contenders in the finals rounds included teams from Uruguay, Netherlands, Germany, Paraguay, Brazil, Ghana, Argentina and defending champions Spain.
The 2014 World Cup in Brazil is building up to be one the best stages. As many young, talented players will have a taste of their first World Cup, they will endure exposure for their respective teams as they discover new additions to their rosters.
Lionel Messi is one player in particular. Messi started his career on FC Barcelona, a Club team, which is one of the best Clubs in the world according to numerous media panels. Messi recently broke a Champions League record by scoring five goals in one game against Bayer Leverkusen as his team won the game 7-1.
Brazil is expected to do well in the World Cup. With the combination of new, young faces such as Neymar, Ganso, Luca Leiva, Hulk (pronounced as Ul-k), and the return of known key players like Dani Alves, Thiago Silva, and Elano. Now that these new players are a part of the roster, it’s time for them to show the classic players what they’re made of. Brazil’s future is safe with them as they have great potential.
