At Umpqua Community College a shooting occurred, on October 1st. For the people who attend Umpqua Community College it was like any other ordinary school day. Upon arriving, gunman 26 year old Chris Harper Mercer, entered the college supposedly picking out all the Christians and started shooting at them.
According to Oregon shooting: Gunman dead after college rampage it said that one of the victims Anastasia Boylan told her family that the gunman ordered for all the Christians to stand up and started shooting at them.
“I have a really strong opinion on this I think that not everyone should have access to guns i think that they are way too easy to get ahold of in America today. I think that the reason there is so much violence is because of how it is easy to access guns. I feel that everyone has access to obtain a gun so if less people had access to getting one it would be a safer environment,” junior Amanda Goldberg said.
According to CBS news online ten people were killed along with the gunman and seven others were injured.
“I think [gun control policy] is what we need; too many school shootings, too many killings in America. I think we need it, not only would it piss people off but it would be hilarious to see how many people would get upset knowing they can’t have guns. Too many people are privileged and think they deserve the right to bear arms. Some but are too stupid to own guns,” junior Jeremy Mosseson said.
