This school year, WJPS introduced Mr. Keffas, a new special education teacher.
He came to WJPS from Long Island City High School where he was working with a much larger student population. Adjusting from a big school to a smaller one has been a significant change for him, but he shared that he’s excited for this new chapter.
Mr. Keffas explained that he first learned about this position from WJPS Assistant Principal, Mr. Bacharach, who encouraged him to apply.
“I really hope the students remember my name and the positive impact I make on them.” Keffas said.
Teaching was not his original career path. Mr. Keffas studied marketing and advertising as his first choice, but later decided to pursue education instead.
He said that he has no regrets about the switch and he feels fulfilled in the classroom.
