An investigation is still ongoing in the case of Hui Wang. The woman in her 50’s was found dead in the park in College Point last month.
Police said a 911 call came in about a person found unconscious and unresponsive near the shoreline by the boat launch ramp.
When officers arrived, they found the woman lying near the water and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives spent several hours at the park, speaking with witnesses and trying to gather as much information as possible.
Some WJPS students and staff members live near the park.
WJPS 12th grader Valery Cardona said, “Nothing like this ever happens right by where I live. I was shocked when I heard the news.”
WJPS 11th grader Mariana Martinez Morales said, “This happened two blocks away from my house. I’m worried about going to the park and what I might find.”
