This year, the decision was made that WJPS 12th graders will not be receiving lockers.
With many new students and a limited amount of lockers, there are not enough lockers for every student.
Seniors will have to use backpacks or other side bags as an alternative throughout this school year. Seniors should be sure to have everything they need for each class in their bags everyday.
12th graders were specifically chosen for the main reason that they get let out of school earlier than the other grades.
WJPS technology specialist Mr. Myrtil said, “Think about it like this: There are 100 sixth graders, which is a lot, and 100 eighth graders. Overall, there’s a lot of students and we don’t have enough lockers for every single one. Seniors leave early anyway, so it was the most practical choice.”
For seniors, the school day is finished by sixth period, meaning they would have less time to use them.
WJPS 12th grader Daniela Vicente said, “As a senior, I feel that not having lockers this year is a bit disappointing. However, I also understand that there are a lot more students this year and we need to make room.”
