The 2024-25 NBA regular season has ended, and with it voters will have to choose who the Most Valuable Player is. The top two are Shai-Gilgeous Alexander of the Oklahoma City Thunder and Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets. It should be Jokic.
Jokic is averaging a triple double with double figures in three categories. This has only been done by two other players in NBA history. Not only that, but his season was the most efficient from the field of any of those seasons.
Alexander’s team is indicated by their 68-14 regular season record, one of the best in history. Jokic’s team did worse, with some teammates like Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. missing a lot of games due to injury.
It is clear that Jokic is the better overall player since he has had to lead his team, and he should be the MVP of the league.
WJPS 11th grader Jack Annibale said, “Shai should win MVP because he averages more points and the Thunder have more wins.”
WJPS teacher Mr. Van Deurs said, “Jokic should win MVP because even though the Thunder made further into the playoffs Jokic overall has supported his team to more wins and also scored over 60 points in a game.”
