This semester, WJPS welcomes its new Assistant Principal, Mr. Bacharach. He began working at our school on May 7th.
Before taking on the role of assistant principal of WJPS, Mr. Bacharach worked as the assistant principal of Long Island City High School.
He will be managing the school’s humanities department, among other responsibilities. He holds a passion for supporting students and staff alike.
At his previous school, Mr. Bacharach acted as the adviser for the school’s newspaper. He entered his students in journalism competitions, even winning a few.
Because of his experience in journalism, Mr. Bacharach desires to expand journalism classes to middle schoolers, rather than strictly high schoolers.
Mr. Bacharach was originally drawn to WJPS because of its reputation.
“My favorite part of my job has to be working and interacting with the students. I went into education to help shape students into exactly who they want to be and it has been very rewarding.”
Mr. Bacharach appreciates the benefit of working in a small school like WJPS. He encourages students to feel free to stop by his office to talk if they ever need help with anything.
Mr. Bacharach said, “I want to make school somewhere we all want to be every day.”
