Broadway’s Hudson Theater opened its doors last month to one of its newest musicals, The Last Five Years.
This Broadway show is about the relationship between two people over a five-year period.
The thing that sets this musical apart from all the others is that the two characters are telling the audience about a different time in their relationship.
When the musical starts, you hear the female character going into detail about the end of the relationship, and at the end of the musical, she is singing about the beginning of the relationship.
While the male character first goes into detail on how the relationship started and later, for the finale, how their relationship ends.
The show’s cast only consists of two actors, those being Nick Jonas and Adrienne Warren.
Jonas is widely known for the band he’s in, The Jonas Brothers. This being his first big-time role on Broadway after being a producer for a show called Chicken and Biscuits in 2021.
Warren is known on Broadway for multiple other projects, such as Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, where she got a Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress.
WJPS teacher Mr. Gardner said, “The musical sounds interesting. I like going to see musicals, and I’d like to see this one.”
WJPS teacher Ms. Shields said, “It seems like an interesting musical, and I would love to see it.”
