The global positioning system also known as the “GPS” is satellite based which helps with navigation and mapping. The GPS is constantly rotating around Earth and signals are being sent out.
The GPS navigation system provides a person’s direct direction of where they need to be or go according to National Geographic.
Satellites boost the accuracy of the location where the GPS is directed to go.
With multiple satellites, the GPS user will have a variety of different directions of how to get to their set location.
With one satellite, there will be only one direction given to the GPS user on how to get to their location.
The GPS can be used on an iPhone through the app “Maps” as an example. When you first open the app, there is a search bar that lets you put in any address to anywhere you need to be.
WJPS 11th Grade student Joseph Weir said, “I think the GPS system is very helpful because I’m terrible at directions and it gets me where I need to go.”
WJPS 11th Grade Student, Jamie Baumann said “I think it is more efficient when it comes to helping humans do something like work faster.”
