Technology has many benefits when it comes to educational purposes. Most assignments and homework are now online, and even tests.
With artificial intelligence (AI) becoming more advanced, students may be relying on it more as more assignments are assigned. This ultimately makes students lazier.
If students use AI for a little extra help, that’s perfectly fine. However, it becomes a problem when students complete an entire assignment using AI because then students will be clueless with future assignments and they will learn nothing.
12th grader John Mihalios said, “I feel that AI can be beneficial on certain occasions, but honestly putting every single question from AI, even if it’s an opinionated question, is pointless and ridiculous, so yes at the end of the day it is making students lazier.”
According to statista.com, “A global survey of students conducted in mid-2024, it was found that a whopping 86 percent said they were using artificial intelligence tools in their schoolwork. Almost a fourth of them used it on a daily basis.”
12th grader Camryn Chan said “I 100% feel that AI is making students lazier. Students need to learn new things in class and AI is stopping that from happening. Students are abusing it.”
