The Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) meets every Thursday during high school lunch to discuss future goals and activities for the club.
The GSA was first established in WJPS in 2022, and has been a safe haven for our LGBTQ+ students.
Hosted by teacher, Ms. Koza, the GSA doubled its membership this year.
Club members have been working on a mural, as well spreading school spirit for these past few weeks.
WJPS teacher, Mrs. Koza said,“I feel like the GSA is a really important part of our school’s culture, it gives a place to feel comfortable in your own skin. It gives folks a safe place to discuss agendas that may be shamed by society. I wish more folks would attend, but the people here are wonderful.”
WJPS 11th grader, Landon Thai, said “I like the concept of the GSA, I know many people can be hostile toward gay people just because of a preference. It allows for a safe space to talk and communicate, which I don’t see anything wrong with.”
