A new horror movie following Stephen King’s short story “The Monkey” is currently in theaters following its February 21st release. Directed by Osgood Perkins, the movie follows two brothers who discover their father’s old monkey only to realize it has a “sinister” past.
Stephen King is known for his horror genre books like If It Bleeds, Holly, and The Shining which are adapted into shows and movies.
The film stars Theo James, Elijah Wood, Tatiana Maslany, and Colin O’Brien. The Monkey is rated 79% on Rotten Tomatoes.
WJPS 12th grader Preston Ng stated, “I don’t like horror movies and most likely won’t be watching this movie. It just isn’t for me, but if the chance does come up I guess I’ll give the movie a shot.”
WJPS 12th grader Jane Castrejon Santana stated, “I always liked horror movies so maybe I’ll watch this one, but out of everything they could have picked as the antagonist, they chose a monkey.”
