President Donald Trump imposed a 20% to 25% tariff on all goods coming in from Mexico and Canada. He said that it will remain in effect until drugs and immigrants stop “invading our country.”
He has also imposed 20% tariffs on goods coming from China. As a result, certain US farm products going to China now have 10% to 15% tariffs.
According to an announcement by the commerce industry of Beijing, livestock, animal products, and aquatic products will face a 15% tariff. Produce, grains, cereal, and cotton will also face a 10% tariff.
This was done by China shortly after President Trump raised tariffs on all Chinese imports to 20%. Ontario, Canada, also placed a 25% tax on electricity exports to the US.
If President Trump continues to raise tariffs on imports, the average US citizen will suffer as a result of things becoming more expensive.

WJPS 11th grader Landon Thai said, “Since a lot of things come from China it would be bad to raise tariffs.”
