A few weeks ago, WJPS implemented a new way for students to sign into the school building. It replaces the former swiping device that has been in use for years.
In the past, students used to sign in by swiping their ID through the machine. Now, in order to sign in and sign out, students have to hold their ID in front of the scanner.
It will only work if it is shown at a certain distance. If your ID is too close or too far, your ID will not register in the system.
WJPS paraprofessional Ms. Donna said, “The previous ID scanner turned out to be obsolete. I think that the new ID scanner is better. We’re going to be using this new device for other things as well.”
WJPS 12th grader, Aisha Ismail said “I liked the swiper better since it was much faster. Now you have to hold your ID from a certain distance for the scanner to actually work. The process became a little bit harder now. “
