This year’s school play is Matilda the Musical. It is a joint show between I.S. 25 and WJPS middle schools.
Auditions took place on December 10th, and the first rehearsals were on Tuesday, January 7th.
Students meet for rehearsals every Tuesday and Wednesday from 2:30 to 4:30.
WJPS’ Mrs. Ferrucci is the play’s director.
Mrs. Koza and Mr. Clark are co-musical directors. Mr. Clark is a new member this year, as he just joined I.S. 25 as a theater teacher.
Mrs. Mills and Ms. Ryer are the choreographers.
The show will be performed on May 30th at 7 p.m. for families and May 31st at 2 p.m. It will also be performed for both I.S.25 and WJPS middle schoolers on May 28th during school.
WJPS 10th grader Natalie DeRosa said, “Last year I helped out a lot with Annie Jr. and it turned out really good. I’m so excited to see how great Matilda is going to turn out.”
WJPS teacher Mrs. Koza said, “I’m the musical director for Matilda, and it’s so great working with the kids and really making a show for people to see.”
