Most schools have a bell schedule that is automatically based on specific times when students should leave and get to their classes. The bell schedule at WJPS is from 8:05 am to 2:25 pm.
These scheduled bells help students get to class on time and let teachers know when students are late to class.
However, the bells at WJPS have a similar sound to the announcements. This can create uncertainty in whether it’s just an announcement or if it’s the next period.
WJPS 6th grader Micheal Fortunato said, “It’s my first year starting at WJPS, and I’m still getting used to moving around the building for classes, so it can be a little confusing when the noise for announcements sounds like the bell.”
WJPS 11th grader Panagiota Sfeliniotis said, “I’ve been going to WJPS since middle school, so I’m used to the sound of the bell, but when morning or important announcements are spoken over the loudspeaker, the sound of announcements sounds just like the sound of the bell. This can cause some confusion for students and teachers.”
In order to avoid any confusion to students and teachers, changing the bell noise from the announcements notification sound will definitely help differentiate the two.
This way students aren’t late, and no important announcements are being missed.
