Uncle Chop’s Rocket shop is a spaceship repair simulation developed by Beard Envy, a roguelite 2D puzzle game with bright colors and graphics.
Set in a 1950s dystopian world, Wilbur, the main character being played, is a spaceship mechanic that deals with many different characters coming in and out of his shop. Some are friends and some are enemies.
“Wake up, clock in, fix ships, make friends and enemies, pay rent, upgrade your workshop, ponder the futility of your existence, go to bed and then do it all over again the next day,” stated Kasedo Games, the game’s publisher.
Players are required to use tools and other appliances to troubleshoot tasks, and complete side jobs all within the daily time limit.
Released December 5th of last year, it is available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox Series X and S.
WJPS 12th grader Rick Montoya shared, “Even though it might be cartoonish and lighthearted, the dark humor adds to the atmosphere and the mechanics of the game will definitely be interesting.”
WJPS 12th grader Sir Alexander Theodosiou said, “I love puzzle games that let you interact with your surroundings. The dystopian part brings out a rogue-like feeling.”
