After 20 years with the New York City Department of Education, and 17 years as a WJPS parent coordinator, Ms. Reed will retire as of January 2nd, 2025.
She has assisted countless parents and guardians over the years. She first worked in advertising and public relations that helped her better understand how a community works and also helped with her communication skills. Then, she worked in the PTA in her children’s elementary school.
Ms. Reed stated, “I have 20 years and it’s a good time to collect a pension. I had cancer and surgery and it turned out well, but when you have those life changing events you prioritize differently. Also my husband has been retired for four years so it’s time to spend time with my family as a whole.”
WJPS interim principal Mr. Yarmy stated, “Ms. Reed has been with us for a really long time and she’s been really helpful to our community. I also think it’s time for her to take her time now and rest and she will be missed.”
