Pharmaceutical companies shouldn’t be allowed to advertise as commercials often do not give enough information for people who use the product.
Users should listen to their doctor and take the drugs their doctor prescribes.
Some advertisements speed over or show a large paragraph at the end with a list of the side effects. An example of a drug advertisement that did this was Zantac.
Zantac showed in its advertisements a person suffering from heartburn. A mascot arrived with the drug promising instant relief when in reality it would take 15-60 minutes to take effect.
Not only this, Zantac was later found to contain low levels of NDMA, a substance which with continued use of the drug would build up and increase the risk of cancer according to the FDA which is why it was taken off the market in 2020.

WJPS 11th grader Alex Narduzzi said, “They should explain the side effects.”
