As students enter their junior and senior years of high school, their priorities are maintaining a good grade point average, looking at colleges, and participating in extracurricular activities. Not to mention, they are soon entering the real world.
However at WJPS there is a shortage of basic life classes to help prepare students for their future. These classes should focus on developing skills in cooking, cleaning, driving, job requirements and problem-solving.
These basic life classes could help students manage their emotions, work on communication, make responsible decisions and improve time management.
WJPS 11th grader, Panagiotia Sfeliniotis claimed,“I think that our school should really focus on preparing us for our future although, I agree the classes we are taking are important, but classes a few times a week that teach us basic life skills can help us develop good habits in our futures.”
WJPS 11th grader, Eleni Tsiakas stated, “I think WJPS needs to offer more classes that prepare students for their future after high school. Having more classes like this would keep students interested and paying attention in class.”
A solution would be to include more courses that apply to basic life skills that could help students be prepared for the future.
