As fall has started, many people expect it to be cooler. Although, in recent years as October has rolled around, maximum temperatures have reached a high in the 70s and even 80s.
Throughout October 2024, the mornings have had temperatures as low as the 50s or high 40s while the afternoon temperatures reach the 70s and low 80s. This pattern has repeated itself throughout the later half of the month.
Some believe climate change is to blame for this change.
According to Spectrum News New York One, “Climate change impacts temperatures throughout the year, but we often see its most dramatic results during the spring and fall seasons. We’re seeing hot temperatures earlier in the spring and warm temperatures later into the fall.”
WJPS 9th grader Arturo Mendoza said, “It’s just overwhelming, you don’t know what to wear anymore and the weather app isn’t always accurate.”
WJPS teacher Ms. Bonanni said, “I don’t like it when the weather waffles back and forth. I never know if I should turn the air conditioner or heater on in my house.”
