As the winter approaches, wrestling will soon be starting at Francis Lewis High School.
This is WJPS 12th grader Andre Gordon’s third and last year of competing.
He is one of the captains of the team.
Gordon said, “I started wrestling because I really enjoyed grappling sports. I had done Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before wrestling so I had some background knowledge of it. I also want to reach the Ultimate Fighting Championships so that’s also another reason why I started wrestling.”
WJPS 11th grader Noah Lim, a teammate of his stated, “He pushed us at every practice and game last year and tells us how to get better each day.”
Gordon has accomplished many things to further solidify his ability. He stated, “I have accomplished a good amount of things in the wrestling curriculum, such as becoming the last man standing champion, Queens borough champion, and top four in the entirety of New York City.”
WJPS 12th grader Diego Figueroa, who is another teammate stated, “He is a great leader for our team and he has a good mentality that helps this team progress every day.”
