World Journalism Preparatory School has a policy in which students are not allowed to stay upstairs during lunch, unless they have a club meeting to attend to or have to get extra help.
Not everyone agrees with this policy, since students already aren’t allowed to use their phones during the day and cannot enter rooms without adult supervision.
It’s reasonable that this policy wouldn’t sit right with some students. In the past, some remained upstairs to avoid the cafeteria or work on assignments whether via chromebooks or physical copies.
Students who catch up on assignments could save themselves time, and staying upstairs would help students get to classes faster. So as a solution, the upstairs policy should be repealed altogether.
WJPS history teacher, Mr. Tesler said, “I think it’s good because on the one hand, it gives students an opportunity to be down at lunch and get away from the school environment.”
WJPS 7th grader, Oscar Tang commented, “Honestly, I don’t like it, because after lunch, we have recess, and we have to go upstairs and get our stuff from our lockers.”
