In February of this year, Disney announced that a sequel to their 2016 movie Moana will be released. Moana 2 will be in theaters November 27th.
The original movie made Disney over 697 million dollars worldwide.
Disney also announced a plan to make Monna into a live-action movie that is expected to come out in 2026.
The original cast will be returning to play their original roles in this movie, such as Auli’i Cravalho, who voices Moana, and Dwayne Johnson, who voices Maui.
The directors John Musker and Ron Clements and original songwriter Lin Manuel Miranda will not be returning to the film.
WJPS sixth grader Michael Fortunato said, “I’m excited for it, I can’t wait to see it, and I think it is going to be a blockbuster hit.”
WJPS 10th grader Theodore Bournis said, “I’m very excited for the new Moana 2 movie. I always liked the first movie because of the really cool graphics of the water and Maui’s powers.
I would want to see the second movie in theaters to see how advanced the graphics have become and to see what happens because the trailer looks appealing.”
