Meta/FaceBook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has announced that they have completed work on a prototype for their latest project, new augmented reality wearable glasses named Orion. This was in development for over four years.
Project Orion was shown to multiple media sources to show them what they had been working on and to give their opinions about it.
According to TheVerge.com, Meta was originally supposed to sell these glasses in stores everywhere but ultimately decided to cancel production, stating “they are too complicated and expensive to manufacture right now.”
The glasses would’ve come with micro LED projectors that were built inside the frame, which would then project holograms in front of you. This would allow you to watch movies, play games, and make a call with family members if they also had the glasses.
WJPS 11th grader Wendell Quilang Jr. said, “It reminds me a lot of the virtual reality glasses that Apple made a few months ago.”
WJPS 11th grader Dylan Vigliarolo said, “It sounds cool as an idea, but I think it would be better to see the features work perfectly as intended if they come out.”
