WJPS uniforms have been a part of the school’s dress code ever since it first started. In recent years the school’s dress code has become less strict, allowing students to dress more freely. However, some students disagree with this.
All students must wear at minimum one piece of clothing with the school’s logo. Exceptions to the uniform dress code are school approved club shirts, event shirts and school sports shirts.
Students are prohibited from wearing items such as jeans, hats of any kind, slippers, sunglasses, chains and many more items. If students are caught wearing these items they can face punishments such as detention.
WJPSS 10th grader Marina Melissinos stated, “I really wish we didn’t have to wear these uniforms.”
Uniforms may be more convenient to parents, with their only concerns being buying enough. However, now with sites like Lands End and Ideal Uniforms it is more easily accessible for parents to purchase uniforms.
WJPS 7th grader Gianna Nunez said, “All we can wear are shirts with logos, I can’t even wear jeans here without getting in trouble.”
