Saturday Night Live known as SNL has recently started airing their 50th season. The first episode of the show premiered on September 28th.
The first season of Saturday Night Live aired 50 years ago in October of 1973. There will be a three hour primetime special to celebrate the 50th season of SNL that will air February 16th.
SNL is currently up to their third episode that will air October 12th. The host for the week will be singer-songwriter and actress Ariana Grande while the musical guest is Stevie Nicks.
Ariana Grande is known for her songs We Can’t Be Friends, 7 Rings, and Thank You Next. She is also known for her acting the show Victorious and the upcoming movie Wicked.
Stevie Nicks is an eight time Grammy award winner, her best known songs are Dream, The Chain, and Everywhere.
WJPS 11th grader Samantha Almonte stated, “I think it’s a pretty cool show and really entertaining and I’m waiting for the next season to come out.”
WJPS teacher Mr. Thompson stated, “I’ve watched SNL before and it’s a really enjoyable and funny show, and I can’t wait to see what they have to say in this next season.”
