Some students have been having trouble logging into websites like the College Board and Google Classroom when using school computers.
New students have been facing issues, like waiting for their email to be validated by the New York City Department of Education. This may affect students since they may have classes that give homework on these sites.
Some students may also then have a lack of performance in class, since some teachers post videos about topics on these websites.
There are also certain laptops that require a Google login by the DOE in order to even have access to anything on the computer. That may also be an issue because students in that case aren’t even able to access the internet to search anything.
WJPS 12th grader, Dylan Schacter said, “There’s been many times I had to reset my password because it seems to never work when I try to log into Google Classroom.”
WJPS 11th grader, Anthony Canale said, “I was trying to log into the College Board using my Clever account, and it never seems to register me in.”

I have definitely experienced this with my students. We were doing an activity where the students had to play an online educational game and the site was blocked unless we switched to the guest Wi-Fi. It negatively impacted the lesson and made it harder to teach.
