Some drivers are taking to the streets to “cut up” or “swim” through traffic on the highway. These are a series of maneuvers, often done at high speeds.
Drivers of this trend sometimes drive on the shoulder, weaving in and out of cars. This is a hazard to many on the roadway.
However, it can be fun to do in video games to try and see how long you can go without crashing. However, in real life you do not get a reset. You can greatly injure yourself and others.
This trend was recently made popular by Antonio Ginestri, known as “Squeeze Benz.”
Ginestri was recently arrested for this activity. He released a video where he tried to get the fastest lap time on the Jackie Robinson Parkway.
He lapped the JRP in two minutes and three seconds, garnering many views.
WJPS teacher Mr. Reff said, “I think it’s really dangerous and reckless. I have a relative who works with cars in indoor races and they say Squeeze Benz has good skills.
He should be on a track, not out putting other people in danger.”
WJPS dean Ms. Mccloskey said, “My opinion on those drivers is they are extremely dangerous to themselves and those around them.
I wish the police could do more and punish them more severely when they are caught.”
